Due to the increasingly dry conditions, the Municipal District of Greenview has declared a more restrictive Fire Ban.

The Municipal District of Greenview has declared a Fire Ban for the Non-Forest Protection Areas (Non-FPA) directly outside the Town of Valleyview and the Hamlets of DeBolt and Ridgevalley (see maps below).

Prohibited:
•    All outdoor wood fires are banned, including wood campfires on public lands, wood campfires on private land and provincial campgrounds
•    Backyard firepits
•    BBQ charcoal briquettes
•    The use of fireworks and exploding targets

Allowed:
•    Propane/natural gas-powered appliances
•    Open flame oil devices (e.g., turkey deep fryers, tiki torches)
•    Indoor wood fires contained within a device with a chimney and spark arrestor
•    All appliances must be CSA approved and used per manufacturer’s standards

Extreme caution must be exercised in windy or gusty conditions.

Please ensure that any smoking materials, such as cigarettes, are completely extinguished and placed in a suitable receptacle rather than discarded along a trail, sidewalk, or roadway.

Residents are also encouraged to check any previously burned brush piles to ensure they are completely extinguished.
