NOTICE:

Effective April 1 to November 30, 2024, the Sewage Treatment Plant Road will be closed due to the construction of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, affecting trail access in the area. This road closure will also affect trail access to and from the Sewage Treatment Plant Road. Please refer to the Grande Cache Trail Map and the Close-Up maps below of the affected area below.

Here’s what this entails:

No access to the Sewage Treatment Plant Road.
Trails leading off or onto the Sewage Treatment Plant Road will be inaccessible, and the road will be fenced, so there will be no access.
No access to Bucksaw Ridge Trail (Trail 29) from the Sewage Treatment Plant Road.
No access to Bucksaw Ridge Trail (Trail 29) from The View Trail (Trail 40)
No access to The Great Escape Trail (Trail 9) from the Sewage Treatment Plant Road.
No access to The Great Escape Trail (Trail 9) from The View Trail (Trail 40), Rabbits Trail (Trail 15) or Sulphur Slide (Trail 38).
No access from Peaks to Creek (Trail 2) off Riverview Trail (16) to or from the Sewage Treatment Plant Road.

Additional Development:

A new Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) Station will be constructed on the gravel parking lot at the bottom of the jail hill road.

Plan your trail route in accordingly:

Please plan your outdoor trail use accordingly, considering these trailhead closures. For example, if you are on Bucksaw Ridge Trail, you will not be able to exit on Bucksaw Ridge onto the Water Treatment Road, so please pre-plan your route.

The expected timeframe for the completion of the Water Treatment Plant construction is projected to be January 2026.
