Friendly Winter Reminder: Snow Removal Guidelines!

With winter’s arrival in our community, we’d like to remind everyone about the “Snow Removal Bylaw” that helps keep our sidewalks clear for both commercial and residential properties. Let’s work together to ensure everyone has safe walking surfaces!

Here’s a quick overview of what you need to know:

If snow or ice accumulates on a sidewalk next to your property, please remember to remove it within the following timeframes:

  • 24 hours for commercial properties (excluding Sundays and statutory holidays)
  • 48 hours for residential properties (excluding Sundays and statutory holidays)

Also, just a friendly reminder that vehicles cannot be parked on the roadway for more than 72 hours without being moved. In the interest of efficient plowing, vehicles left on the roadway longer than this may be towed at the owner’s expense, as stated in Section 76(2)(a) of the Alberta Traffic Safety Act.

For more information on sidewalk clearing, snow on roadways, snow on roofs and eaves, as well as fines and enforcement, please check out the Grande Cache Snow Removal and Ice Control By-Law No. 774.

Thank you for your cooperation, and happy winter!
