MD of Greenview Re-Elects Reeve and Appoints Deputy Reeve

Valleyview, Alberta

The Municipal District of Greenview Council is pleased to announce the re-election of Ward 9 Councillor Tyler Olsen as the Reeve and appointed Ward 8 Councillor Bill Smith as Deputy Reeve for the municipality at the annual organizational meeting on Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

Reeve Tyler Olsen’s background includes hands-on experience in the industrial and commercial trucking industry. A long-time resident of Grande Cache, AB, Tyler has also spent 17 years as a volunteer firefighter and is currently serving as the Captain for the Grande Cache Station #33 of the Greenview Fire-Rescue Services department in addition to his elected duties. Reeve Olsen is currently in his second term as an elected Councillor, having joined Greenview Council in January 2019.

“I am honoured by the support of my fellow Council members once again in electing me to serve as Reeve for Greenview for another year,” said Reeve Tyler Olsen. “Together, we plan to continue the good work undertaken in the past year to move forward with continued improvements to Greenview’s economic development, infrastructure, roads, and investment in our communities.”

Deputy Reeve Bill Smith is in his third term as Councillor for Grovedale, Ward 8 and third term as Deputy Reeve. Bill comes from a multi-generational ranching family in the area who have strong community ties. Bill spent his career as a self-employed tradesman working in and around the region while maintaining his family ranch before running for public office in 2013 for Greenview. No stranger to hard work, Bill juggles his responsibilities as a Councillor while working with his family to maintain their ranching operations.

Deputy Reeve Bill Smith thanked the Council for their confidence, saying, “I have seen many changes in my short political time. It is very rewarding, and I’m committed to continuing to work with my fellow Councillors and administration to provide the high levels of service Greenview residents expect and deserve.”

MD of Greenview Council holds an organizational meeting each year to choose a Reeve and make various committee appointments. A complete list of committee appointments will be available on https://mdgreenview.ab.ca/government/boards-committees/.
