MD of Greenview Re-Elects Reeve and Appoints Deputy Reeve

Valleyview, Alberta

The Municipal District of Greenview Council is pleased to announce the re-election of Ward 9 Councillor Tyler Olsen as the Reeve and appointed Ward 8 Councillor Bill Smith as Deputy Reeve for the municipality at the annual organizational meeting on Tuesday, October 24, 2023.

Reeve Tyler Olsen has a rich industrial and commercial trucking background. A steadfast resident of Grande Cache, AB, Tyler’s commitment to his community is multifaceted and enduring. His service spans 20 remarkable years as a volunteer firefighter, a role he continues to fill as the Captain at Grande Cache Station #33 under the Greenview Fire-Rescue Services department. This duty complements his responsibilities as a Greenview Councillor, demonstrating his deep-seated dedication to public service.

“The continued support I have received from Council is both humbling and encouraging with the re-election for another year as Reeve for Greenview,” expressed Reeve Tyler Olsen. “Collectively, we are committed to building upon the progress made in the previous year, advancing Greenview’s economic development, enhancing infrastructure and roads, and investing further in our communities.”

Deputy Reeve Bill Smith, currently serving his third term as Councillor for Grovedale, Ward 8, and his fourth term as Deputy Reeve brings a wealth of experience to his role. Bill’s ties run deep as part of a multi-generational ranching family firmly rooted in the community. Before his foray into public office in 2013 with Greenview, he carved out a successful career as a self-employed tradesman, serving the region and balancing these responsibilities with the upkeep of his family ranch. Bill is no stranger to hard work, deftly managing his duties as a Councillor alongside his commitment to the family’s ranching operations.

Deputy Reeve Bill Smith extended his heartfelt thanks to Council for his re-election, saying, “I am deeply grateful to the Council for their continued support and trust. It’s an honour to work alongside such dedicated individuals in serving our community.”

MD of Greenview Council holds an organizational meeting each year to choose a Reeve and make various committee appointments. A complete list of committee appointments will be available at https://mdgreenview.ab.ca/government/boards-committees/.
