Greenview Industrial Gateway identified as forerunner for Alberta’s clean energy future

Valleyview, Alberta: In a recent article in Site Selection magazine, Greenview Industrial Gateway (GIG) was highlighted, along with Alberta’s Industrial Heartland as being the forerunner of clean energy manufacturing for Alberta.

GIG Executive Director Kyle Reiling indicated the importance of this recognition.

“Being recognized in this prestigious publication is a significant recommendation. Investors and industry leaders in energy production are really starting to take notice of our leading-edge development, which is the first of its kind in Canada.”

The article was published in the September 2022 edition and highlights the incredible advantage that the GIG’s closed-loop industrial system offers to the energy sector, providing the complete infrastructure for manufacturing companies. This includes access to feedstock, water, electricity, an integrated transportation network, and the ability for carbon sequestration in a carbon capture hub.

Northern Petrochemical Corporation and Cerilon have already purchased land in the GIG with plans to develop multi-billion-dollar facilities that will produce low-carbon ammonia and methanol as well as ultra-low sulphur diesel and jet fuel.

“We anticipate that the GIG will support at least four major petrochemical operations when it is fully developed,” said Reiling.

With a distribution of more than 42,000, Site Selection is a leading global publication that covers corporate real estate strategy and economic development, providing insights for expansion planning decision-makers.
