Greenview Adopts Final Operating and Capital Budgets for 2024
The 2024 Operating and Capital Budgets were adopted by Council at the Regular Council Meeting on March 26, 2024.

Budget highlights are as follows:
Greenview Council remains focused on the continued development of critical infrastructure, maintaining and enhancing essential community programs and services, along with the continued support of regional partnerships and collaborations.
The operating budget of $178.5 million includes $112.7 million for general operations, $26.5 million for amortization, and $39.2 million in requisitions including the Provincial Education and Seniors Foundations requisitions, both of which are mandated by the Province. As part of the operating budget, $13.1 million has been allocated to municipal partners and non-profit organizations through Greenview’s Community Services Grants programs and community partnerships, which includes support for the operations of libraries, museums, and community halls across the municipality as well as the stewardship of the community cemeteries.
Council approved $78.5 million for capital projects, including $58.2 million in projects carried over from the previous year. The capital budget was approached with careful deliberation without sacrificing any planned infrastructure projects and remains fully funded from debentures, restricted reserves, and grant funding.

Key Capital Budget Highlights
In 2024, the MD expects to complete $78.4 million in capital projects. Major projects include:
• Bridge Culvert Replacement on Township Road 692 (South of Valleyview) – $0.6 million
• Bridge Replacement on Township Road 674 (East of Valleyview) – $0.9 million
• Fox Creek Greenview Multiplex Renovation Project – $2.4 million
• Grande Cache Recreation Centre Arena Ice Pad & Boards – $1.8 million
• Grande Cache Operations Building – $11.4 million
• DeBolt Fire Rescue Truck Replacement – $1.2 million
• Township Road 704 (Hwy 49 to Range Road 230 West of Valleyview) Overlay – $2.6 million
• Forestry Truck Road Upgrades – $1.5 million
• Grande Cache Transfer Station Development – $2.6 million
• Ridgevalley Lagoon Expansion – $0.9 million
• Grande Cache Sewage Treatment Plant – $34.2 million

Aseniwuche Winewak Nation Round Dance Gets Greenview Support
Aseniwuche Winewak Nation is a non-profit society based in Grande Cache, Alberta that represents over 500 members who share a unique history and ancestry rooted in the Rocky Mountains. The society hosts the Annual Spring Memorial Round Dance, which is open to the public to share and experience local indigenous culture while sharing their history and traditions. Council approved a sponsorship in the amount of $3,000.00 to the Aseniwuche Winewak Nation for the Annual Round Dance in Grande Cache on April 27, 2024, with funds to come from the 2024 Community Services Sponsorship Budget.

Greenview Charity Clay Shoot Donation Recipients Announced
The annual Greenview Charity Sporting Clay Shoot fundraiser is held each year as a way for Greenview Council to spend a day of fellowship with municipal partners, valued commercial and industrial stakeholders, and honoured guests while raising funds for worthy charities within Greenview. For the 2024 charity event, Council selected the five Food Banks serving Greenview residents (Fox Creek, Valleyview, DeBolt, Grande Prairie, and Grande Cache) as the donation recipient(s) for the 2024 Clay Shoot Stakeholder Event, with the total funds raised split equally among them.

Tender Awarded for Grande Cache Recreation Centre Arena Pad and Boards
Council awarded the tender for the Grande Cache Recreation Centre Arena Pad and Boards to Bry Sand Ice Arena Ltd. for $1,450,571.90 plus GST with funds to come from the 2024 Capital Budget, Project 23002 in the capital plan. Council approved this project with a 10% contingency amount of $145,057.90 plus GST, with funds to come from the 2024 Capital Budget. The RFP was posted on January 23, 2024, on the Alberta Purchasing Connection submissions deadline was February 20, 2024. Administration received two qualified submissions for evaluation, both proponents meeting all the mandatory requirements for consideration.

Tender Awarded for Greenview Regional Multiplex Fieldhouse Air Conditioning
Council awarded the tender for the GRM Fieldhouse Air Conditioning to Nordic Mechanical Services Ltd. for $244,903.00 plus GST with funds to come from the 2024 Capital Budget, Project RE23017. This tender was posted to the Alberta Purchasing Connection on January 22, 2024, with a closing date of March 1, 2024. Procurement had received one qualified submission for evaluation.
