Grande Cache Operations Building Tender Awarded
A tender was launched on January 23, 2024, for the construction of the new Grande Cache Operations building. This tender closed on February 23, 2024, with 8 proposals received. All proposals submitted were accepted for review and evaluation.

Council awarded tender AB-2024-00684 to GenMec ACL Inc., in the amount of $11,629,125.00 plus GST, and approved additional funding in the amount of $1,364,164.00 to cover contingency costs with funds to come from capital project FM22008 and Facilities Reserves respectively.

Emergency Generator Building Preparedness Tender Awarded
A tender was posted to the Alberta Purchasing Connection on January 25, 2024, for the installation of transfer switches and outside connection points at the Greenview Regional Multiplex (GRM), Grovedale Community Center, and the Little Smoky Hall, allowing the respective buildings to be connected to a portable generator in an extended power outage. This tender closed on February 20, 2024, with only one proposal received.

Council awarded tender AB-2024-00689 to Kamwin Electric Ltd., in the amount of $232,860 plus GST, with funds to come from capital project FM22009 – GRM & Grovedale Emergency Generator Preparedness (for Greenview Regional Multiplex, Grovedale Community Complex, and Little Smoky Hall).

Greenview Awards Forestry Trunk Road Water Services Tender
At the December 12, 2023 Regular Council Meeting, Greenview Council passed a motion to direct Administration to draft and post a tender for water truck services on the Forestry Trunk Road for the purpose of applying dust control and working in coordination with maintenance road grading services. The tender was posted on Alberta Purchasing Connection on January 22, 2024, and closed on February 16, 2024. Eight companies submitted tenders with some bidding on 2, 3, or all 4 areas. Seven of the eight companies who provided bids are based within Greenview.

Council awarded the Forestry Trunk Road Area 1 water truck services tender for 2024 to Gerwatoski Holdings Ltd. at a rate of $141.00/Hr with funds to come from Operations’ 2024 operational budget.

Council awarded the Forestry Trunk Road Area 2 water truck services tender for 2024 to J. Moody Grader Service Ltd. at a rate of $155.00/Hr with funds to come from Operations’ 2024 operational budget.

Council awarded the Forestry Trunk Road Area 3 water truck services tender for 2024 to J. Moody Grader Service Ltd. at a rate of $169.00/Hr with funds to come from Operations’ 2024 operational budget.

Council awarded the Forestry Trunk Road Area 4 water truck services tender for 2024 to Gerwatoski Holdings Ltd. at a rate of $170.00/Hr with funds to come from Operations’ 2024 operational budget.

Ridgevalley Seniors Assistance Society Grant Request Approved
The Ridgevalley Seniors Assistance Society applied for a capital grant at the October 2023 grant deadline for the 2024 calendar year, requesting funds to complete various capital projects within the facility. Council approved a capital grant in the amount of $112,727.61 to the Ridgevalley Seniors Assistance Society, with funds to come from the Community Services Grants to Organizations budget.

Grande Cache Memorial Icebreaker Tournament Gets Greenview Support
The Grande Cache Memorial Icebreaker Hockey Tournament is a non-profit organization that hosts this event annually in memory of past teammates, coaches and volunteers who have impacted hockey within the community of Grande Cache. Council approved a sponsorship of $8,000.00 to the Grande Cache Memorial Icebreaker Tournament to cover the recreation centre and rental fees on April 5-7, 2024, with funds to come from the Community Services Sponsorship budget.

Grovedale Cemetery Committee Appointment
Council has an established bylaw appointing five community members to each Cemetery Committee as well as one Councillor. Recently,  a vacancy on the Grovedale Cemetery Committee became open, Council appointed Shauna Head for a three-year term.

Greenview Council to cancel and retender development of Municipal Development Plan
In January 2024, Administration launched a Request for Proposal for the development of a Municipal Development Plan (MDP). After completing evaluations, Administration recommended the cancellation and retendering of the project in 2026 to ensure the project can be completed during the tenure of a single Council, as these projects often take a long period of time to complete due to the complexity and importance of their impact on private land.
