Royal Canadian Legion #278 in Grande Cache Gets Greenview Support For a New Roof
The Royal Canadian Legion #278 (Grande Cache Legion) is a highly used community facility in the hamlet of Grande Cache. It has been used as a community hall to host various events for over 50 years. In January 2024, the roof at the Grande Cache Legion unexpectedly began leaking and has caused the Legion to close to the public several times due to safety concerns and it has been determined the building will require a new roof. Council approved a capital grant in the amount of $100,000.00 to the Royal Canadian Legion #278 in Grande Cache for the new roof project, along with a reallocation of funds in the amount of $36,747.56 from the 2023 capital grant for the new roof project or interior renovations as needed.

Greenview Approves Sponsorship for Odyssey House Women’s Residence Fundraiser
Grande Prairie Women’s Residence Association operates Odyssey House, a non-profit organization and registered charity providing safe, secure, and affordable accommodations for women who are victims of domestic violence, are in crisis or are in need of a housing alternative. Council approved a sponsorship in the amount of $5,000.00 to the Grande Prairie Women’s Residence Association o/a Odyssey House for hosting the 2024 GrandeCon event on July 12-14th, 2024, with funds coming from the Community Services Sponsorships budget.

Peace Area Riding for the Disabled Society (PARDS) Fundraiser Support Approved
The Peace Area Riding for the Disabled Society (PARDS) offers specialized and unique therapy for those who are living with any range of mental or physical disabilities, offering a sense of independence and confidence to those who attend. Council approved a sponsorship in the amount of $1,000.00, along with an in-kind donation of up to $500.00, to the Peace Area Riding for the Disabled Society (PARDS) for the Community Carnival and Cookout, scheduled for June 8, 2024, in the County of Grande Prairie, with funds to come from the Community Services Sponsorships budget.

Greenview Supports Valleyview Canada Day Fireworks
The Town of Valleyview has traditionally put on a full day of events to celebrate Canada’s birthday within the community on July 1. This event is well attended by residents from both the town and surrounding rural areas of Greenview. Council approved the sponsorship in the amount of $1,500.00 to the Town of Valleyview for the Canada Day Fireworks Display, to be held July 1, 2024, in Valleyview, Alberta, with funds to come from the Community Services Grants and Sponsorships Budget.

Wanham 51st Annual Plowing Match Sponsorship Approved
The Community of Co-Operating Organizations (C.O.C.O.) Wanham Plowing Match and Agricultural Society is hosting its 51st Annual event which will be held on June 21-23, 2024, in Wanham, Alberta. The event includes old-fashioned horse plowing, modified truck, and tractor pulls and has added new events such as barrel racing, horse jumping, and pole bending. Council approved a Platinum Sponsorship in the amount of $1,500.00 to the C.O.C.O. Wanham Plowing Match & Agricultural Society with funds to come from the Community Services Sponsorships budget.

Tender Awarded for 2024 Light-Duty Fleet Vehicles
Administration posted four separate requests for tender for light duty fleet vehicles on Alberta Purchasing

Connection on February 26, 2024. The vehicles were split into four tenders to allow for competition across the different types and sizes of the units required. Council awarded the tenders for the purchase of light-duty vehicles as follows:

  • 2024 2-ton pick-up truck to Windsor Ford, in the amount of $105,859.72 plus GST, with funds to come from the 2024 Operations Capital Budget Project OP24001
  • Five 2024 half-ton pick-up trucks, and one new 2024 three-quarter-ton pickup truck to Windsor Ford, in the amount of $369,102.65 plus GST, with funds to come from the 2024 Operations Capital Budget Project OP24001
  • One 2024 full-sized sport utility vehicle to Windsor Ford, in the amount of $70,203.68 plus GST, with funds to come from the 2024 Operations Capital Budget Project OP24001
  • Three new 2024 mid-sized sport utility vehicles to Windsor Ford, in the amount of $138,989.91 plus GST, with funds to come from the 2024 Operations Capital Budget Project OP24001

The Requests for Tender were posted on the Alberta Purchasing Connection on February 26, 2024, with a submission deadline of March 22, 2024. Administration received 2 qualified submissions for evaluation, with proponents meeting the mandatory requirements for consideration.

Tender Awarded for 2024 Crack Seal & Line Painting
Council awarded the tender for Crack Seal & Line Painting contract for 2024 to AAA Striping & Seal Coating Service, in the amount of $391,745.60 plus GST, with funds to come from the approved 2024 Asphalt Operational Budget. The Request for Tender was posted on the Alberta Purchasing Connection on April 5, 2024, with a submission deadline of April 22, 2024. Administration received three qualified submissions for evaluation, with all proponents meeting all the mandatory requirements for consideration.

Tender Awarded for 2024 Spray Patch Work
Council awarded the tender for the 2024 Spray Patch work to Dynamic Asphalt Services Inc, in the amount of $193,500.00 plus GST, with funds to come from the approved 2024 Asphalt Operational Budget. The Request for Proposal was posted on the Alberta Purchasing Connection on April 5, 2024, with a submission deadline of April 22, 2024. Administration received three qualified submissions for evaluation, with all proponents meeting all the mandatory requirements for consideration.

Tender Awarded for Valleyview Field Service Office Re-Roof
Council awarded the tender for the Valleyview Field Service Office Re-Roof to Standard Roofing Ltd., in the amount of $154,130.00 plus GST, with funds to come from the Facility Maintenance Contractor Services budget Project FM-2024-02366. The Request for Tender was posted on the Alberta Purchasing Connection on March 25, 2024, with a submission deadline of April 19, 2024. Administration received seven qualified submissions for evaluation, with all proponents meeting all the mandatory requirements for consideration.
