Pembina continues safely managing a natural gas liquids (NGL) release from our Northern Pipeline approximately 30 kilometres east of Valleyview, Alberta, that occurred on January 18, 2023.
The release is estimated to be approximately 4600 m3 of NGL vapour and our pipeline remains isolated while we continue our investigation.
Our first priority is always the safety of our neighbours, employees and contractors. The impacted area has been deemed safe and nearby residents who were evacuated out of an abundance of caution are returning to their homes. All roadblocks in the area have been removed.
Pembina would like to thank local first responders for their assistance as we worked to safely manage this incident and we offer our sincere apologies to the community for the inconvenience this incident has caused. January 18, 2023, the MD of Greenview received notification from Pembina Pipeline of an emergency incident that took place on Pembina’s Northern Line, 30 kilometres from Valleyview, at approximately 6:20 pm on January 18, 2023.
The pipeline has been isolated, and Pembina continues to work closely with all officials in the area to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. Residents in the immediate area have been contacted and advised of the situation, and traffic is being diverted as required. Pembina will continue to provide updates as necessary.
