Notice: New Process for Animal Control in Grande Cache effective June 1, 2023
Effective June 1, 2023, there will be a new process for Animal Control Services in Grande Cache. We will be working with the Grande Prairie Regional Animal Care Facility to ensure that lost or abandoned animals are taken care of. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to Little Critters Bed & Biscuit for their invaluable contributions to providing exceptional Animal Control services in our community over the years. Their commitment has been an integral part of our community’s well-being. However, they have graciously informed us that they can no longer extend this service. We wish them continued success in their future endeavours.
Our new process will be:
If you need to report a lost pet, please contact either Greenview Enforcement Services or RCMP.
They can be reached at the following time:
- Enforcement Services, Monday – Friday, 8:00 – 4:30 pm at 780-501-1581
- RCMP – After Enforcement Services Hours at 780-827-2222.
If your animal is picked up by Enforcement Services or by the RCMP, and there is no tag to identify the owner, then the animal will be taken to the Grande Prairie Regional Animal Care Facility, as there is no holding facility in Grande Cache. Once you arrive at the Grande Prairie Regional Animal Care Facility to pick up your animal, fines as per Grande Cache Bylaw No. 80, Schedule A must be paid. {insert link Schedule A Part One – Impoundment, Custodial and Disposal Charges). Fees will apply with respect to the impoundment of the animal, along with custodial fees applied for each day that the animal is detained in the Care Facility.
An animal license will help to quickly identify your pet and get them back to you safely. If your pet is found wandering the streets, rescue organizations can easily look up your pet via its license-identifying number. This is important so that if your pet is caught, it can be recognized easily and returned to you before it is taken to Grande Prairie Regional Animal Care Facility.
Licensing your pet:
We invite you to join us in promoting a culture of responsible pet ownership. This can be accomplished by obtaining a license for your cherished pet, ensuring cleanliness by promptly cleaning up after them, and safeguarding both their safety and others by keeping them on a leash. These are small steps that can keep pets safely where they belong.
Annual Licensing Fees for Dogs (See Schedule “A” Animal Control Bylaw No. 801) are available at the Grande Cache Public Service Building located at 10002 Shand Avenue, Grande Cache.
