Boss Bridgeworks will be preparing the bridge replacement commencing May 20, 2024 (weather dependent). During this time, the road will be closed, with a detour available around the location. Please use caution while travelling in the area, watch for personnel and equipment working and obey all posted construction signs. Update #4 - May 13, 2024 - 11:00 am Intense firefighting operations continued through yesterday, with night vision-equipped helicopters successfully extinguishing hotspots overnight. Ground crews have also been diligent in securing the fire's perimeter. To bolster the response, AB Forestry is establishing an incident camp to accommodate additional resources arriving today and tomorrow. The first meal served will be supper on Tuesday, May 14th. Update #2 - May 11, 2024 - 3:20 pm Wildfire GCU 007 travelled 12.8 km yesterday in an eastward direction crossing the Smoky River on Friday May 10, 2024. Update #1 - May 11, 2024 - 9:25 am Last night, an evacuation zone was declared in the North Goodwin area. RCMP notified a small number of residents who were evacuated to Valleyview. Fire growth overnight was minimal, and Greenview will provide an update at 3:00 pm on May 11, 2024.
