Greenview Council Receives Maskwa Medical Centre Update
Maskwa Medical Center (Canada) Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to improve the quality of life and health outcomes for residents in Northwestern Alberta and is committed to accelerating and enhancing processes and access to medical specialists, family physicians and health services for patients in the Peace Region. Greenview Council has endorsed this integral regional project through a letter of support and $525,000 in grants in 2021 and 2023 for business plan analysis and engineering design. In 2024, Greenview agreed to provide a $3.5 million dollar interest-free loan to help move this project forward and will release these funds once construction is slated to begin. Representatives from the Maskwa Medical Centre project team provided an update to Council, which noted that progress continues for fundraising and discussions with corporate entities and the province. Council moved to accept the update for information as presented and added a motion directing Administration to provide a letter of support to each member of the Treasury Board to be signed by the MD of Greenview, City of Grande Prairie, and County of Grande Prairie in support of this project.

Greenview to Pursue Agricultural Service Board Grant to Support Extension and Outreach Programs
In November 2024, the Agricultural Services Board moved to recommend to Council that Greenview pursue the “Resource Management” funding stream in the 2025-2029 Provincial Agricultural Service Board Grant program to support programming focused on beneficial management practice adoption, soil and water conservation, riparian protection, and more. Since 2022, Greenview has delivered these services through the Landcare Coordinator position and related programs. As a result, awareness and adoption of beneficial management practices and Environmental Farm Plans have grown among ratepayers, and grant funding opportunities for Greenview producers have increased. Council directed Administration to pursue this funding stream in support of these programs and services.
