Greenview Council Boards and Committee Appointments Updated
Each year at the annual Organizational Meeting, Council approves all of the Boards and Committee appointments for Council for a one-year term and will be reappointed again at the 2025 Annual Organizational Meeting. Council also approves the Member at Large appointments, with terms set as per each Board or Committees’ respective Bylaw. Greenview Council recognizes the vital role of Non-Profit boards and committees in our communities and elected officials dedicate many additional hours to these appointments in addition to their regular Council responsibilities.

Greenview Charity Clay Shoot Fundraising Event a Success
Greenview hosted the 7th Annual Greenview Charity Clay Shoot at Shot Shell Shooting Range south of Valleyview on Thursday, September 5, 2024. This charity tournament is held each year to raise funds for a worthy charitable organization and for 2024, the five food banks that serve Greenview (Fox Creek Food Bank Society, Valleyview Interfaith Food Bank, DeBolt Food Bank, Salvation Army (Grovedale), and Grande Cache Food Bank) were chosen. Each of the five food banks will receive an equal split of the total funds raised, which amounted to a whopping $57,806.61. Council also discussed and approved five Food Banks serving Greenview residents (Fox Creek, Valleyview, DeBolt, Grande Prairie, and Grande Cache) as the Clay Shoot charity recipients for 2025, which will be held on Sept. 4, 2025.

DeBolt and District Ag Society Harvesters Ball Sponsorship Approved
The DeBolt & District Agricultural Society was established in 1976, with local dedicated volunteers creating a community-focused group that helps to provide many resources to the DeBolt community, such as the community hall, curling rink, sports field, and golf course. The society hosts the annual Harvesters Ball to help bring the community together, all while fundraising to keep the community’s venues and programs successful. Council approved a sponsorship in the amount of $1,000.00 and an in-kind donation of up to $500.00 for the Annual Harvester’s Ball on November 2, 2024, with funds to come from the 2024 Community Services Donations & Sponsorships budget.

Council Supports Family and Community Support Services Grande Cache Relocation
The Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) department in Grande Cache, currently located in the Provincial Building, has been offered an opportunity to relocate to a larger space within the building. This space will provide more space for confidential meetings and programming, as well as improved internet services and a second exit for safety. At the September 24, 2024 Regular Council Meeting, Council moved to defer their decision for this proposed relocation while Administration gathered additional information from the Province of Alberta and Tawow Center. Council was satisfied with the additional information provided and authorized Administration to relocate the Grande Cache Family and Community Support Services office to the larger office space within the Provincial building (former Town Administration Office).
