About the speaker:

Annessa was born and raised on her family’s mixed farm and has strong roots connected to agriculture. Annessa and her husband have recently moved back to Annessa’s family’s farm and are the successors for their operation.

Annessa is passionate about looking at the big-picture, holistic family transition plan to understand the intricacies of each unique family, their business, and their wealth ramifications. Annessa has been honoured to sit at the table with over 500 Canadian farm/ranch families and learn about their families and operations. With this extensive experience, Annessa understands the interdependence and complexities of inter-generational family farm issues and concerns. Annessa consults on the transition planning process and assists the families in triaging and preparing for the next steps. Annessa created Peak Heritage Consulting Ltd. to work with families as a completely independent advisor.

One of the mottos she shares with clients is, “Succession is the transfer of a business, while Estate Planning is the transfer of assets pre- and post-death. Transition is a combination of both and is proactive rather than reactive.”

Annessa previously worked for her family’s company, GRS Consulting which was a private consulting firm that focused on financial management and succession planning for agriculture producers, Annessa and her father Merle delivered unique content from both the senior and junior generation’s perspectives. Annessa then joined Farm Credit Canada, where she worked with farm families and her fellow colleagues across the country, gaining national perspectives. Annessa is also a certified Family Enterprise Advisor of Family Enterprise Canada.
