Environmental Services has organized a day to help clean-up the entrance into the Landfill. Plastic bags have blown everywhere and it is quite a site! We are looking for Volunteers to help out!
WHEN: Saturday, June 18, 2022 @ 10:30 am (Join us between 10:30 am – 3:00 pm)
ABOUT: Participants are asked to pick-up 2 garbage bags each and in return, you will receive a coupon for the BBQ being held at Central Park for Volunteers from 12:00 – 3:00 pm. We thank you in advance for helping. Your help WILL make a difference.

It takes 10 – 500 years for a plastic bag to degrade in a landfill! Unfortunately, the bags don’t break down completely and instead photo-degrade, becoming microplastics that absorb toxins and continue to pollute the environment. Should plastic bags go in the landfill?
Plastic bags should be recycled. Instead of putting your plastic bags in the Landfill, take them to New Horizon Co-Op where they can be recycled. Plastic bags can be made into dozens of useful new products – from building and construction materials, fencing and deck materials, to new bags.
The Landfill will be CLOSED Saturday, June 18, 2022 from 10:30 am – 4:00 pm during the clean-up and re-open from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.
