Wastewater & Septage Disposal

Environmental Services manages wastewater services across Greenview through municipal sewer systems in serviced hamlets and approved lagoon facilities for rural and hauled wastewater. These services help ensure the safe treatment and disposal of sewage and septic waste across the municipality.

Municipal Sewer Systems

In hamlets with municipal sewer service, wastewater from residential, commercial, and institutional properties is collected through underground infrastructure and transported to regulated wastewater treatment facilities for processing.

Properties connected to municipal sewer systems are billed through their utility accounts in accordance with approved utility rates.

Rural Wastewater & Septage Disposal

Many rural residential, commercial, and industrial properties in Greenview are not connected to municipal sewer infrastructure and instead rely on septic tanks, holding tanks, or similar private wastewater systems.

Waste from these systems, including septic pump-outs, outhouse waste, and industrial hauled wastewater, is typically removed by licensed third-party haulers. Hauler’s transport collected wastewater (septage) to approved municipal lagoon facilities for treatment and disposal.

Lagoon Disposal Locations

Approved lagoon disposal locations include:

  • Sturgeon Heights Lagoon
  • Grovedale Lagoon
  • Tony Creek Lagoon
  • Grande Cache Wastewater Treatment Facility

Lagoon disposal sites are controlled-access facilities. Authorized haulers must follow site-specific procedures prior to delivery, including access requirements, monitoring protocols, and disposal guidelines. Disposal procedures and monitoring requirements may vary by lagoon location.

Disposal Fees

Municipal septage disposal fees are charged to licensed third-party haulers based on the volume delivered at approved lagoon facilities.

The current municipal disposal rates are available in Greenview’s Schedule of Fees Bylaw. Haulers set their own service rates, and any charges above the municipal disposal fee are determined by the hauling company.

Residents are encouraged to contact multiple service providers to confirm pricing and service availability.
