Greenview is committed to supporting small businesses and entrepreneurs in our communities. By introducing an Outdoor Beautification Grant, Greenview aims to advance our local economic goals by encouraging pride in the success and potential of our local businesses.
The Outdoor Beautification Grant acts as an immediate economic driver by providing local employment and business for local trades and suppliers and enhancing building aesthetics, contributing to the beautification and vibrancy of Greenview and its communities.
The beautification grant will pay businesses between 50-70% of eligible costs, up to a maximum of $5,000, depending on where your business is located within Greenview.
The Outdoor Beautification Grant will remain open until grant funding has been allocated.
Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria for either stream to be considered for a beautification grant:
- Must be a small business.
- Must be located within Greenview.
- Must hold a valid Greenview Business License.
- Must plan to use this program for the purpose relating to the exterior or signage of the building. Examples may include:
- Restoration of exterior finishes and repainting, including murals.
- Planter, hanging baskets, and garden areas, especially in downtown hamlet setting.
- Repair or replacement of storefront windows, patios, and doors.
- Exterior lighting of the building and signage.
- Signage on the front of the business location.
- Replacement of awnings and signs.
- New architectural details, such as entryway features and cornices.
- Addition of patio areas and permanent landscaping elements; and
- Removal of barriers to access for people with disabilities and mobility challenges.
Note: The above list is not exhaustive, and other improvements may be considered eligible if they align with the program’s objectives and comply with the applicable development regulations.
Greenview Beautification has two (2) streams: Storefront Stream and Small Business Stream. The difference between the streams is the amount of reimbursement. Businesses that are eligible for Storefront Stream can apply for up to 70% of total project costs up to a maximum of $5,000.00. Businesses that are eligible for Small Business Stream can apply for up to 50% of total project costs up to a maximum of $5,000.00.
To be eligible for the Storefront Stream, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Operates a small business on a parcel of land zoned for commercial purposes as per Greenview’s Land Use Bylaw.
Applicants must meet the above-stated requirements to be eligible for the Small Business Stream.
All eligible applicants must complete and submit the following information to Greenview Economic Development Department:
- A complete application form.
- A complete description of the project.
- Detailed estimates for the described project. A minimum of two (2) quotes from two (2) different competitors that clearly indicate the cost of the project and
- Drawings to show the described project, if necessary. *Note: Some projects may not require drawings.
