Fire Permits

Land within Greenview boundaries covers multiple Forest Protection Areas (FPA) and areas under Greenview’s jurisdiction, also known as Non-Permit Forest Protection Areas (FPA).

Within an FPA, the government of Alberta is the wildfire authority, manages and responds to all wildfires in those areas, and is responsible for issuing permits and putting on fire bans.

In Non-Permit FPA areas, Greenview is the wildfire authority, managing and responding to all wildfires and issuing fire bans.

From March 1 to October 31, a fire permit is required for all burning activities in the Forest Protection Area (FPA), excluding campfires.

For more information, requirements and how to apply for a fire permit within an FPA, please visit Alberta Wildfire – Get a fire permit

Effective Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 10:00 am, the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16 will update its road bans. All Greenview gravel roads, including the Forestry Trunk Road, will be at 75% axle weight in the absence of frost conditions – and at 100% axle weight during frost conditions until further notice.
