Ratzlaff and Burton Re-elected to Greenview Leadership Roles

The Municipal District of Greenview Council re-elected Ward 2 Councillor Ryan Ratzlaff as Reeve and Ward 6 Councillor Tom Burton as Deputy Reeve at its annual organizational meeting on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Both will continue in their leadership roles for another year.

Reeve Ratzlaff enters his second year as Reeve while serving his second Council term representing Little Smoky, Ward 2. Raised on the family farm, he developed an appreciation for hard work, care for animals, and respect for the land. Those values continue to shape his approach to municipal leadership.

Through local youth programs, Ryan developed the leadership and public speaking skills that would later serve him in municipal government. Years spent volunteering at community events and lending a hand wherever needed strengthened his ties to the region and shaped his belief that serving a community begins with knowing its people and understanding what matters to them.

“I’m grateful for Council’s continued confidence and the opportunity to serve another year as Reeve,” said Reeve Ryan Ratzlaff. “Greenview is home, and I care deeply about the people and communities that make up this region. I look forward to continuing our work with Council and Administration, listening to residents, and making thoughtful decisions that support Greenview’s future.”

Deputy Reeve Burton begins his third year as Deputy Reeve while serving his seventh Council term representing DeBolt, Ward 6. He brings more than two decades of municipal experience and a longstanding record of community service, including nearly 30 years with DeBolt Fire & Rescue before retiring in 2021.

Burton continues to advocate for collaboration, responsible development, and strong rural representation, with a focus on maintaining communities where residents and future generations can build their lives.

“It’s a privilege to continue serving as Deputy Reeve, and I appreciate the trust Council has placed in me,” said Deputy Reeve Tom Burton. “Over the years, I’ve seen what we can accomplish when we work together and keep the needs of our communities at the centre of our decisions. I look forward to another year of working alongside Reeve Ratzlaff, Council, and Administration to serve our residents and move Greenview’s priorities forward.”

Over the coming year, Council will continue its work on municipal priorities, responsible stewardship of public resources, and services that support residents throughout Greenview.

Greenview Council holds an organizational meeting each year to elect its Reeve and Deputy Reeve and make committee appointments. A complete list of committee appointments will be available at mdgreenview.ab.ca/government/boards-committees/.
