MD of Greenview Elects Reeve and Deputy Reeve

Valleyview, Alberta
The Municipal District of Greenview is pleased to announce the election of Ward 2 Councillor Ryan Ratzlaff as Reeve and Ward 6 Councillor Tom Burton as Deputy Reeve during the annual organizational meeting held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

Reeve Ryan Ratzlaff is now entering his second term representing Little Smoky, Ward 2. He grew up surrounded by the strong community spirit and natural beauty that define rural Alberta. Life on the family farm taught him hard work, a love for animals, and a respect for the land—values that continue to guide him today.

Active in local youth and community programs, Ryan developed leadership and public speaking skills that serve him well in public life. Years of volunteering at local events and helping wherever needed strengthened his deep roots in the community, fostering a lifelong commitment to service and connection.

“It’s a true honour to be elected Reeve and to have the opportunity to serve the residents of Greenview,” said Reeve Ryan Ratzlaff. “This region has shaped who I am, and I’m deeply committed to working together with Council, Administration, and our communities to continue building a strong, sustainable future for everyone who calls Greenview home.”

Deputy Reeve Tom Burton, now in his seventh term representing DeBolt, Ward 6, and his second term as Deputy Reeve, brings over two decades of experience in local government. Beyond his council duties, Tom proudly served with DeBolt Fire & Rescue for nearly 30 years, retiring in 2021. Tom continually advocates for collaboration, responsible development, and strong rural representation. He is passionate about ensuring Greenview remains a vibrant, resilient, and supportive place for future generations.

“It’s been an honour to serve the residents of Greenview for so many years, and I’m proud to continue working alongside Council and our communities to move this region forward,” said Deputy Reeve Tom Burton. “Greenview is built on hard work, collaboration, and resilience, and I’m committed to ensuring those values guide every decision we make.”

Greenview Council looks forward to a productive year under the leadership of Reeve Ratzlaff and Deputy Reeve Burton, as it continues to advance initiatives that strengthen communities and enhance the quality of life for all residents.

Greenview Council holds an organizational meeting each year to choose a Reeve and make various committee appointments. A complete list of committee appointments will be available at https://mdgreenview.ab.ca/government/boards-committees/
