Building Better Communities Starts Here
People behind the region’s community organizations are invited to learn, connect and grow their impact at an upcoming conference, Mission Possible: Building Better Communities, Together.
The event takes place on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Evergreen Park, bringing together non-profit organizations, community groups, board members, staff and volunteers for a full day of learning, networking and practical training.
“Non-profit organizations, community associations and volunteer groups are often the people bringing ideas to life, creating connections and responding to the needs of their communities,” says County of Grande Prairie Reeve Amanda McDonald. “This event recognizes the important role they play in our region and creates a space dedicated to supporting the people behind that work.”
Sessions throughout the day will cover a range of topics that are important to volunteer-led and community-focused organizations, including volunteer recruitment and retention, grants and funding opportunities, board financials, governance, fundraising, community engagement, financial risk management and more.
“Our local non-profit organizations are the backbone of our communities, and we want to make sure they have access to the tools, information and connections that can help them be successful,” states Greenview Reeve Ryan Ratzlaff.
“This is the first conference of its kind in our region, and we’re proud to partner with the County of Grande Prairie and the Government of Alberta to bring everyone together. We hope this gives local organizations a chance to learn from each other, make new connections, and take practical ideas back to their communities. We would also like to see this grow into an annual event that continues to support non-profits across the region.”

The conference is being offered in partnership with the County of Grande Prairie, the MD of Greenview, and the Government of Alberta. It’s designed for anyone involved with a non-profit organization, community association, board or volunteer group, whether they are new to their role or have years of experience.
