Greenview Supports Suicide Prevention Awareness Event
Greenview will provide $5,000 in sponsorship to the Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention for the 16th Annual Chair Extraordinaire event, taking place September 26, 2026, at Evergreen Park in the County of Grande Prairie. Funding will come from the 2026 Community Services Sponsorships budget.
The annual event raises awareness of mental health and suicide prevention while encouraging open conversations and reducing stigma. The Resource Centre for Suicide Prevention provides education, training and support services to individuals, families and organizations throughout Grande Prairie and the surrounding region.
CN Rail Delegation to be Requested to Address Greenview Concerns
Rail safety awareness remains important to Council, particularly for communities located along rail corridors. While Council did not approve the proposed Rail Safety Week proclamation, the discussion highlighted several local rail-related concerns that require further attention.
Council directed Administration to invite a delegation from CN Rail to address outstanding concerns related to the transportation of dangerous goods through Greenview communities, the removal of safe recreation crossings, and compliance with provincial weed legislation. The discussion recognized the value of rail safety education while identifying matters Council wishes to address directly with CN Rail.
