Two-Year Property Tax Exemption for Mountain Métis Cultural Association

The exemption will help reduce operating costs as the association continues providing cultural and community services.

The value of the exemption will depend on the community centre’s assessed value as construction progresses. The association will be required to reapply by September 30, 2028, aligning its renewal with other participating organizations.

Grande Cache Recreation and Trails Master Plan Concept Adopted

The Grande Cache Recreation and Trails Master Plan concept was approved to guide future recreation and trail planning in the hamlet and surrounding area. Council further directed Administration to provide updates and corrections to the plan that will provide a higher conceptual approach to recreation management in Grande Cache and area. Developed through public engagement, data collection and work with Alberta Forestry and Parks, the plan includes recreational infrastructure, community priorities and feedback on service satisfaction.

The plan will support coordinated planning for connected municipal and provincial trails, which provide recreation opportunities for residents and attract visitors to Grande Cache.Approval did not commit funding to specific projects.

One-Year Funding Renewed for Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum

Operational support for the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum in Wembley will continue through a one-year Regional Sustaining Grant Agreement with the River of Death and Discovery Dinosaur Museum Society. Council authorized funding of $150,000 in 2027, funded through the Regional Sustaining Grant budget.

The agreement maintains Greenview’s existing annual contribution, supporting museum operations, educational programming, community outreach, palaeontological research and field activities.

Festival of Trees Sponsorship Supports Regional Health Care

A $5,000 sponsorship to the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital Foundation was approved to support free adult admission to the 2026 Festival of Trees, taking place November 26–29 at the TARA Centre at Evergreen Park in the County of Grande Prairie. Funding will come from the 2026 Community Services Sponsorships budget.

The Foundation’s largest annual fundraiser supports specialized medical equipment, patient care programs and education at the Grande Prairie Regional Hospital, which serves residents throughout the region, including Greenview.

Strategic Plan Sets Direction for Grande Cache All-Season Resort Designation

A strategic plan adopted by Council establishes direction for pursuing an All-Season Resort Designation in Grande Cache, centered on the Grande Cache Golf & Country Club and Grande Mountain. The plan focused on low-density tourism development and year-round recreation that complement the hamlet’s character and support economic diversification.

Greenview’s role includes municipal planning, advocacy, community engagement and preparing for potential investment. Resort designation and provincial approvals remain the Province’s responsibility. Further community engagement will help guide the initiative as it progresses, including through the All-Season Resort Advisory Committee.
