Greenview Provides Letter of Support for Event in Hinton
Council directed Administration to provide the Town of Hinton with a letter of support for the 2026 Raid the Rockies event. Greenview sponsored the event earlier this year with a contribution of $1,575.00 to the Adventure Immersion Lab Society, enabling the 2025 event to take place in Greenview. The event was well-attended and received a positive reception. This endorsement for Hinton continues that support while encouraging regional collaboration.
The 2025 Raid the Rockies series attracted participants and spectators previously unaware of the Grande Cache area, thereby strengthening adventure tourism across the region, adding activity and visibility for local businesses and outdoor amenities in Greenview.
Notice of Motion – Wildfire Committee
The council deferred a notice of motion from Councillor Paul Bailey, which proposed forming a committee to review wildfire-mitigation options for populated areas in Greenview. The item will return to a future Council meeting after January 7, 2026 so Administration can assemble further details and present practical approaches for Council’s review.
The discussion acknowledged the growing pressure placed on municipalities as wildfire seasons lengthen and intensify across Alberta. By delaying the motion, Council aims to ensure that any future direction supports thorough planning, aligns with existing provincial and municipal guidance, and reflects a clear understanding of Greenview’s needs.
Staff Christmas Party Fundraising to go to the Five Food Banks in Greenview
Council confirmed that the five food banks serving Greenview will receive the proceeds from the 2025 Staff Christmas Party fundraiser. This direction helps staff understand the purpose of the annual raffle in advance and maintains the practice of supporting communities across the municipality.
The fundraiser has provided steady contributions in recent years, and the 2025 total will again be shared evenly among the food banks serving residents in Fox Creek, Valleyview, DeBolt, Grovedale, and Grande Cache.
