Council Approves Allocation of the 2025 Operating Budget Surplus
Greenview Council approved the allocation of the operating budget surplus in excess of revenues over expenditures as compared to the annual operating budget in the amount of $6,455,893 to the Unrestricted Reserve.
Greenview Council Accepts Information from Pioneers of the Grovedale Area Museum
The Pioneers of the Grovedale Area Museum submitted a business plan proposing that Greenview purchase the Grovedale Store building and property located on the corner of Highway 666 and Township Road 700. Council expressed strong interest in the proposal, recognizing the building’s historical value and the importance of the land’s location for future economic development within the hamlet. While Council did not proceed with the proposal as presented, they expressed interest in further detailed information and potential forward-thinking ideas brought forward to Council by any person or group interested.
Greenview Council Provides Sponsorship to Grande Cache Chamber of Commerce
The Grande Cache Chamber of Commerce requested funding to assist with the Canada Day Rendezvous and Small Business Week events within the Hamlet. Greenview Council recognizes the importance of supporting these events as they bring the community together and give local businesses an opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate. Council approved a total sponsorship of $20,000 for these events.
Grande Prairie Youth Emergency Shelter (GPYESS) Receives Greenview Support
The GPYESS o/a Sunrise House, in partnership with Odyssey House, was approved for sponsorship in the amount of $4,500 from Greenview Council to assist with the Odyssey Sunrise Golf Tournament and Youth Fest this summer. These organizations provide emergency and transitional shelter for youth at risk of homelessness as well as shelter, education and advocacy for women and children who have been impacted by domestic violence. Greenview Council recognizes that these initiatives help support youth engagement and strengthen services for at-risk youth and families.
Discover Aviation Day Receives Greenview Council Sponsorship
West Peace Aviation Association (COPA Flight 184) is hosting the annual Discover Aviation Day at the DeBolt Airstrip on June 13, 2026. This organization promotes aviation by providing a friendly, fun environment for youth by offering regional flying activities and community events. This year, they anticipate approximately 135 youth attending, along with local community clubs, for this event. Greenview Council approved a $2,500 sponsorship to support this event.
Greenview Council Approves 2026 Community Impact Grants
Greenview Council provides an opportunity for not-for-profit organizations and registered societies that are looking to strengthen and grow services within Greenview and the greater community to apply for an operating and/or capital grant from Greenview once per year. Council assesses each application with a focus on its impact and social well-being, with particular attention to its impact on the Greenview community. Greenview’s Community Services Department received 51 applications from 43 different organizations prior to the April 15 deadline. The total requested amount was $1,638,137. After reviewing the grant requests, Greenview Council approved a total of $919,185.50, with $797,185.50 from the Community Impact Grant Budget and $122,000 from the Agricultural Services Budget.
