Greenview Approves Auction to Dispose of Surplus Assets

Greenview has moved forward with the asset management plan and practices to help guide and manage Greenview’s assets. Through this process, department managers and the Asset Management Officer completed an analysis of replaced and obsolete surplus assets from 2025, utilizing the process outlined in Policy 9100. This process resulted in the creation of the 2025 Surplus Disposal List, totalling 467 assets that are ready to be disposed of. Council authorized Administration to list and sell all items as identified on the 2025 Surplus Disposal list at the next Alberta North Auction.


Alberta Roadshow Palliative Care Training Gets Greenview Support

The Alberta Northwest Palliative Care Society is a non-profit organization that supports families and those nearing the end of life in the northwest region of the province. Offering compassionate care, programs, and education, its mission is to provide those at the end of life and their families with support, empathy, dignity, and care. The organization is hosting a two-day “Alberta Roadshow Palliative Training” session in Valleyview on July 7-8, 2025, and in the Grande Cache/Hinton area on September 19-20, 2025. Council approved a sponsorship in the amount of $4,000.00 to the Alberta Northwest Palliative Care Society in support of the Alberta Roadshow Palliative Care Training, with funds to come from the 2025 Community Services Sponsorships & Donations budget.


Sponsorship Approved for Bear Creek Folk Music Festival

The Bear Creek Folk Music Festival Society is a non-profit society that started in 2016 and is governed by a board of volunteers, coordinating a small staff and over 500 volunteers annually. The organization annually hosts a three-day, family-friendly music festival featuring world-class artists from a wide range of genres such as country, blues, gospel, bluegrass, folk and rock. This year, the event will see 29 artists, including well-known artists, Jewel, Walk off the Earth and Serena Ryder. Council approved a “Bronze” Sponsorship in the amount of $5,500.00 to the Bear Creek Folk Music Festival Society for hosting the 2025 Bear Creek Folk Music Festival on August 15-17, 2025, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, with funds to come from the 2025 Community Services Sponsorships & Donations budget.


Grande Spirit Foundation Anniversary Celebration Sponsorship Approved

The Grande Spirit Foundation, founded in 1960, is a non-profit charitable organization run by a board of Directors consisting of members from the 12 surrounding municipalities, who work comprehensively to expand and support housing within Northern Rural Alberta for seniors and families, offering lodging, senior independent living, continuing care, seniors’ apartments and accessible and affordable housing for families. Council approved a sponsorship in the amount of $2,100.00 to the Grande Spirit Foundation in support of hosting their 65th Anniversary Celebration on June 28, 2025, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, with funds to come from the 2025 Community Services Sponsorships & Donations budget.


Sponsorship Approved for Odyssey House “GrandeCon” Event

Odyssey House is a non-profit organization and registered charity that provides support and accommodations for domestic abuse victims, those in crisis, and those in need of housing alternatives. They offer 24/7 emergency shelter for those in need, outreach for victims, and family support. GrandeCon is an annual comic convention held in support of the organization. It includes a weekend filled with vendors, celebrity guests, and workshops. Council approved a sponsorship in the amount of $2,000.00 to the Grande Prairie Women’s Residence Association o/a Odyssey House for the 2025 GrandeCon event on September 12-14, 2025, in Grande Prairie, Alberta, with funds to come from the 2025 Community Services Sponsorships & Donations budget.


Greenview Fire-Rescue Assets Approved to go to Auction

Greenview Fire-Rescue Assets are regularly reviewed, and a list of assets was identified as due for replacement in 2025. Under Greenview Policy 9100, Disposal of Assets, and particularly Clause 3.5A, it notes the following:

3.5. Emergency & Protective Services Asset Disposal: A) Emergency vehicles will be Disposed of through Council with a reserve price set by Council. This is to cover the cost of returning these vehicles back to their original state prior to becoming an emergency vehicle. The Assets may be made available for purchase by municipalities once the Assets have been de-badged and key Greenview Assets have been removed. These Assets may be presented throughout the year or as required when determining new Asset availability.

The recommended process for disposal is to move these assets to a local auction site and sell them in an upcoming auction. Council moved to authorize Administration to sell the 2025 listings of Surplus Fire Equipment in the next upcoming auction.


Greenview to Apply as Intervener with the Alberta Utilities Commission on a Solar Project

With Greenview ratepayer interests in mind, and honouring Greenview’s strategic plan,
Council directed Administration to apply for intervener status in the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC) hearing for the Universal Kraft Little Smoky Solar Projects and submit conditions reflecting Council’s priorities, including agrivoltaics, waste management, decommissioning and reclamation as determined in future Council meetings and Greenview’s Land Use Bylaw.
