Valleyview, Alberta

Tender Award – 100 Street, Grande Cache Paving

A tender was issued on May 14, 2026, for the 100 Street, Grande Cache Paving (Project PV26003 Hamlet Curb and Gutter) on the Bids & Tenders site. Administration engaged with an engineering firm in 2024 to evaluate and provide Greenview with recommendations for all asphalt roads, resulting in 100 Street in Grande Cache being identified due to the heavy truck use and maintenance costs associated with the road surface. The tender closed on June 8, 2026. Administration received three bids for evaluation, all of which met the mandatory requirements for consideration. Council awarded Wapiti Gravel Suppliers Ltd. the paving of 100 Street (service road) in Grande Cache for $1,210,976.76 (plus GST), with funds to be sourced from Capital Project PV26003, Hamlet Curb and Gutter.

Greenview Supports Snowbird 8 Memorial Project

Council approved a $10,000 Community Impact Grant to the West Peace Aviation Association to support the Snowbird 8 Memorial project at the Grande Prairie Airport. The memorial will feature a restored CT-114 Tutor aircraft as a permanent tribute to Snowbird 8 pilot Gordon DeJong, while also recognizing Canada’s aviation history and providing educational opportunities for future generations.

The project is a regional initiative with an estimated cost of approximately $200,800, supported through a combination of funding partners and in-kind contributions.

Supporting Regional Tourism Through the Bear Creek Folk Music Festival

Greenview will continue its support of one of the Peace Region’s largest annual music events after Council approved a $5,500 sponsorship for the 2026 Bear Creek Folk Music Festival, taking place August 14 to 16 in Grande Prairie. Funding will come from the 2026 Community Services Sponsorships budget and will provide Greenview with recognition as a Bronze Sponsor throughout the festival. The annual festival attracts visitors, volunteers, and performers from across the region and beyond, including many Greenview residents.

Support Approved for Valleyview Vipers Swim Club Swim Meet

A regional swim meet co-hosted by the Valleyview Vipers Swim Club and the Fairview Swim Club will receive a $1,000 sponsorship to help offset facility rental costs at the Fairview Regional Aquatic Centre. The July 25-26 event is expected to welcome approximately 200 swimmers, along with officials, families, and spectators, while providing local youth with opportunities to develop their skills, compete, and stay active. Council approved the sponsorship with funds to come from the 2026 Community Services Sponsorships budget in recognition of the event’s value to youth recreation and regional community connections.
