Ridgevalley Elementary School Students Present to Council and Secure Pizza Party Sponsorship
Grade six students from Ridgevalley School attended the Greenview Council meeting as part of their social studies curriculum to learn about government in action. During their visit, the students delivered an impressive presentation, requesting a sponsorship to fund a pizza party for the elementary school. Their proposal was well-researched, including references to current legislation, the health benefits of pizza, and a brief history behind their initiative.
Council engaged the students in a robust Q&A session, with the young presenters answering questions confidently and thoughtfully. Council was so impressed with their effort that they unanimously approved the sponsorship. Councillor Jennifer Scott generously volunteered to pick up and deliver the pizzas.
The students also presented an alternative ice cream float sponsorship option as a more economical choice. After further discussion, the Council amended its decision to include beverages with the pizza party and approved an updated budget of up to $800.00. The event is scheduled to take place on January 30, 2025, in Ridgevalley, with funds allocated from the 2025 Community Services Donations and Sponsorship budget.

Tender Award for Standing Offer Agreements for Engineering Services Approved
On January 16, 2024, Administration presented the idea of securing standing offer agreements for engineering services to the Committee of the Whole. These agreements would be available for Greenview to use on an ongoing basis over an extended period. Standing offer agreements offer several benefits, including securing fixed pricing, improving project design and development efficiency, and enabling more accurate forecasting and budgeting. To move forward, Administration collaborated in developing a Request for Proposal (RFP) for Standing Offer Agreements focusing on six key areas of engineering services. Ongoing agreements, once approved, are not exclusive and can be cancelled with 30 days’ notice.
Administration posted the Request for Proposals (RFP) to the Alberta Purchasing Connection on October 16, 2024 with a submission deadline of November 12, 2024. Administration received 25 proposals for evaluation, with 23 meeting all the mandatory requirements for consideration. Council awarded Standing Offer Agreements for the six key areas as follows:
