Valleyview, Alberta
Fox Creek Greenview Multiplex Capital Project Funding Approved
The Fox Creek Greenview Multiplex serves residents of both the Town of Fox Creek and Greenview, offering a range of fitness and recreational opportunities for patrons of all ages. Council approved an amendment to the 2026 Capital Budget to support air handling improvements at the recreation facility. The facility, located in the Town of Fox Creek, is jointly owned by Greenview and the Town, with Greenview holding a 60 percent ownership share and contributing the same proportion toward operating and approved capital costs.
As part of this decision, $52,096 was added to the 2026 Capital Budget for the Fox Creek Greenview Multiplex Air Handling Improvements project, with funding to be drawn from the Facilities Replacement Reserve.
Grande Cache Otters Swim Club 53rd Annual Mountain Swim Meet Sponsorship Approved
Council approved a sponsorship of $6,263.25 to support the Grande Cache Otters Swim Club as it hosts its 53rd Annual Mountain Meet at the Grande Cache Recreation Centre from January 31 to February 1, 2026. The funding will cover facility rental costs and will be provided through the 2026 Community Services Sponsorships budget.
The annual meet is expected to draw approximately 150 athletes, along with coaches and families, to Grande Cache for a weekend of competitive swimming, contributing to local activity and community engagement.
Greenview to Enter Into Lease Agreements for Four EV Charging Stations
Council moved to approve amended lease agreements to allow the installation of up to four Level 3 electric vehicle charging stations at the Greenview Valleyview and Area Tourist Information Centre and up to four stations at Pine Plaza in Grande Cache, as part of the EVentures regional charging network. Only sites with sufficient traffic were selected to support reliable long-term use.
All installation costs are fully funded through EVentures, with no financial impact to Greenview. In addition, Greenview will receive either the applicable market lease rate for the parking stalls or two percent of total charging revenue, whichever is higher. This decision supports regional infrastructure development while maintaining a cost-neutral approach for the municipality.
Greenview to Establish FoodCycler Bulk Buy Program
Council approved the implementation of a FoodCycler Bulk Buy Program to support household food waste reduction in Greenview. The program authorizes Administration to purchase between 100 and 800 FoodCycler units at a bulk rate of $439 per unit, plus GST and shipping, and resell them to Greenview residents at the same cost.
The program is designed to be fully cost-neutral. Residents must register and submit full payment in advance, and only confirmed units will be ordered to avoid unsold inventory. If the minimum number of 100 units is not sold within the registration period, the program will not move forward.
Registration will open on January 31 and close on April 30, 2026, with program funds flowing through the 2026 Environmental Services Solid Waste Budget and fully recovered through participant sales.
