Greenview Council Adopts Interim 2026 Operating and Capital Budgets
Council deliberated the 2026 budget over three days in November and approved the 2026 interim operating budget and 2026 capital budget at the December 9, 2025, Regular Council Meeting.
Budget 2026, which is once again a balanced budget, will be finalized pending the completion of property assessment values, provincial requisitions collected on behalf of the Government of Alberta, and seniors’ funding requisitions. The 2026 Capital budget allows for infrastructure costs for roads, bridges, utilities, equipment, and buildings and includes $40.14 million in new commitments. The interim budget covers day-to-day operating expenses and allows projects to proceed until the final budget is approved in the spring. Council will also set tax rates in the spring of 2026, with no forecasted mill rate increase.
Grande Cache Christmas Dinner receives Greenview Support
The Grande Cache Christmas Dinner was first hosted in 2021 and is a fundamental event that brings community members together to enjoy a hot meal, foster connections, and receive community support. This year, they plan to serve approximately 600 people with two seating times to ensure everyone has a chance to attend. To assist those with transportation for those who may not otherwise be able to attend, Greenview Council provided an in-kind donation for the use of the Grande Cache community bus (including the driver). Greenview Council approved a sponsorship of $7,500 to help cover costs associated with this meal.
Greenview Approves Sponsorship for 2026 Annual Peace Country Beef Congress Promotion
Greenview Council approved a sponsorship of $5000 for the Peace Country Beef Promotional Society, which is hosting its 26th Annual Peace Country Beef Congress on January 9, 2026, in Grande Prairie. Since 1998, the Society has organized and hosted the annual Peace Country Beef Congress, an event that brings together individuals and businesses within the cattle industry to network, showcase livestock, and promote products available to producers across the Peace Region. In recent years, the organization has placed a strategic emphasis on youth engagement, expanding its programming to provide new opportunities for young people involved in the agricultural sector.
