You’re Invited: Let’s Talk Agritourism in Greenview

Agritourism Event

Across Alberta, more farms and ranches are exploring ways to welcome visitors—from ranch experiences and farm tours to local food sales, on-farm events, and outdoor experiences connected to agriculture.

For many operations, agritourism is becoming a valuable way to diversify income, share the story of agriculture, and strengthen connections with local communities and visitors.

To support this conversation locally, Greenview, in partnership with the Alberta Farm Fresh Producers Association (AFFPA), is hosting a “Let’s Talk Agritourism” Town Hall.

What is Agritourism?

Agritourism refers to activities that connect visitors with agriculture through experiences on farms and ranches. These activities typically fall into five main categories:
1. Direct Sales – Farm stands, U-pick operations, and farmers markets.
2. Education – Farm tours, workshops, and classes
3. Hospitality – Farm stays, meals, and on-farm accommodations
4. Outdoor Recreation – Activities like horseback riding, hiking, and wildlife viewing
5. Entertainment – Festivals, corn mazes, weddings, concerts, and on-farm events

Many agritourism experiences combine elements from multiple categories—for example, a farm might offer tours, sell products, and host seasonal events.

  • Already offering visitor experiences or direct farm sales
  • Curious whether agritourism could work for your operation

  • Hear real examples from farms and ranches already welcoming visitors
  • Share ideas and ask questions about diversification opportunities

Why It Matters

Agritourism presents an opportunity to:
