2021 Drought Programs for Producers

Alberta Environment and Parks have released programs available for Producers to provide assistance to deal with the drought conditions this year have brought. Due to the drought, they are able to allow subleasing on existing grazing leases. Leaseholders (that have extra forage available on their lease) are required to complete an "Other Livestock" Application in order to allow their lease to be sublet for grazing. Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development Water Pumping Program

Alberta Agriculture and Rural Development Water Pumping Program is a service intended to assist producers in obtaining water for domestic, livestock or agricultural purposes. In collaboration with Alberta Agriculture, Greenview's Agriculture Services Department has available for rent a water pump and pipe trailer with approximately 1 mile of pipe. For multi-mile jobs, Alberta Agriculture requires that the producer contract the pumping equipment through AB Agriculture and Forestry directly. Greenview Included In Livestock Tax Deferral Provision

Greenview has been added to the list of prescribed regions eligible for the Livestock Tax Deferral Provision. The Livestock Tax Deferral Provision allows farmers who sell part of their breeding herd due to drought or flooding in prescribed drought or flood regions to defer a portion of sale proceeds to the following year.
