MD of Greenview Announces New Regional Fire Chief

The MD of Greenview is pleased to announce that Mr. Wayne Brown will be joining the MD of Greenview as Regional Fire Chief effective September 23, 2019.

Mr. Brown comes to the Municipal District, bringing over 35 years of experience in fire services. Mr. Brown is well-known and respected for his strategic leadership and operational management skills in Fire and Emergency Services in Calgary, Alberta. His credentials include Chief Fire Officer Designation (CFO), Provincial Emergency Site/Major Emergency Planning certification, and Fire/Arson Investigator Certification.

Most recently, Mr. Brown served as the Coordinator of the Calgary Coordinated Safety Response Team and Internal Safety Response Unit. In this role, Mr. Brown was mandated to mitigate risk in dismantled and medicinal marijuana grow houses, construction sites, and vacant houses through investigation, inspection, education, and community outreach.

Prior to his time in the CSRT, Mr. Brown worked as Fire Chief for Rocky View County Fire Services. In just under three years, Mr. Brown transformed a rural volunteer fire service into a highly functioning composite fire service capable of managing the dynamic complexity associated with rapid growth coupled with the transition from a predominantly rural to a rural/urban area located on the periphery of Calgary.

His background and skills developed throughout his tenure in the fire service will serve the MD of Greenview as a growing municipality.

“We are looking forward to welcoming Regional Fire Chief Brown to Greenview, to bring continued growth and excellence to our fire service,” said Reeve Dale Smith. “His strong leadership skills and municipal experience will be an asset to the Municipal District of Greenview.”
