Breaking Out the Big Guns Again at the 2021 Annual Greenview Sporting Clay Shoot Fundraiser

The Municipal District of Greenview Council is thrilled to hold its fourth annual 2021 Greenview Charity Clay Shoot on Thursday, September 9, 2021. The event will be held at the Shot Shell Sporting Clay Range near Valleyview, AB. Sporting clay shooting is often described as “golf with a shotgun.” Unlike trap and skeet shooting, which are games of repeatable target presentations, sporting clays simulates the unpredictability of live-quarry shooting. Shot Shell Sporting Clays, a championship course south of Valleyview, AB, features a fully automated 16 station sporting clay course, including tower-level presentations mimicking high flying geese or ducks. Ground-level stations flushing partridge, pheasants, rabbits, and other ground targets are often varied. Greenview’s 2020 outdoor event attracted approximately 80 sports shooters. This year’s event aims to raise much-needed funds for five food banks servicing residents in Greenview and will observe enhanced safety and cleaning protocols.

The day’s event begins at 11:00 am with registration and a safety meeting, a noon-hour lunch, and the tournament kicking off at 1:00 pm.

“Greenview Council is pleased to host the 2021 Sporting Clay Shoot for charity, and we are looking forward to getting outside once again and sharing valuable time with ratepayers and stakeholders in a non-traditional way,” said Reeve Dale Smith. “Clay shooting is a great sport that builds focus and physical discipline, and Council is grateful to Shot Shell Sporting Clays for helping to make our event possible again this year.  A fundraiser like this would not be possible without the generous sponsorship donations from companies like Tiger Calcium, Canadian Forest Products, ATB Wealth Management, McNeil Construction, Nordic Mechanical, Pro-West Refrigeration, Aquatera, All North Consultants, WSP, J. Moody Contracting, MEC Towing and Transport, Serv-All Mechanical, Thompson Infrastructure, Weyerhaeuser, City of Grande Prairie, Quattro Management, Trutec Contracting, Town of Fox Creek, Accurate Assessment, Sameng, Associated Engineering, County of Grande Prairie, Hi-Tech Business Systems, Tim Horton’s (Valleyview), River Country FM, Reynolds Mirth Richards & Farmer LLP, Suncrest Signs, ARC Resources, CDN Controls, Yardstick Technologies, Trapper Gord Homestead & Survival and Canadian Fiber Optics.
