Greenview to Proclaim September 19-25, 2022 as Rail Safety Week
Administration received correspondence from Canadian National Railway (CN) requesting Council proclaim September 19-25, 2022, as Rail Safety Week in the Municipal District of Greenview to align with National Rail Safety Week across Canada. Council approved an official proclamation for the week of September 19- 25, 2022 as Rail Safety Week

Nitehawk Comedy Night Fundraiser Gets Greenview Support
Council received an invitation to attend the “26th Annual Comedy Nite“ fundraiser for Nitehawk Adventure Park on September 24, 2022. Council approved the purchase of one table at the Nitehawk fundraiser with funds to come from the 2022 Sponsorship and Donations budget.

Greenview Approves 2022 Aggregate Supply Purchases
Greenview’s road re-gravelling program follows a 3-year rotation for local roads as needed. Factors for re-gravelling include: the condition of a road; traffic volumes, where the road falls in rotation; and

budget. Gravel stockpiles are also used for emergency road repairs, culvert projects, and approaches. Council approved purchases from Glacier Rock Resources Inc. from the 2022 operational budget, and the remainder to be purchased as material is removed from the locations in 2023 and 2024.

    • 20,000 tonnes of 4:25 (1 inch) gravel for $320,000
  • New Fish Creek
    • 25,000 tonnes of 4:25 (1 inch) gravel for $400,000
  • Sunset House/Sweathouse
    • 20,000 tonnes of 4:25 (1 inch) gravel for $320,000

Gravel Crushing Contract Awarded
Council awarded D. Ray Construction Ltd. of Beaverlodge Alberta a gravel crushing contract for 30,000 m3 of 4:25 gravel (1 inch) at the River Top Sand & Gravel Pit in the amount of $434,900.00 with funding to come from the 2022 Operations’ Road Maintenance Budget.

Greenview Approves Design and Engineering for Utility & Roadway Reconstruction in Grande Cache
Council directed Administration to acquire preliminary design and engineering for utility and roadway reconstruction from the 104 Avenue and 97 Street intersection east to Memorial Drive. This preliminary work will assist Council in determining how to proceed with further development of this area in Grande Cache in the near future.

Residential Lots in Grande Cache to be Sold Subject to Building Commitments
Administration presented Council with a report on recommended sales agreement additions to include contractual building commitments. These additions will provide opportunities for housing renewal and high-quality housing options. Council directed Administration to proceed with the sale of residential lots in Grande Cache subject to building commitments established in the report, allowing the municipality to repurchase the lots if construction does not proceed within two to three years. Council removed the minimum square footage size requirement.

Recycle Bins to Get a New Permanent Home in Little Smoky
During the May 24 regular Council meeting, Councillor Ratzlaff motioned that Council direct Administration to provide a cost proposal to relocate the recycle bins in Little Smoky to a permanent location. A request for quotes was provided to the EOI list, and two quotes were received. Council approved the recycle bins to be moved to the southwest section of the turnaround on the main road just off the pavement, with a 12-metre by 3-metre pad to be constructed by Hollingworth Construction to an upward limit of $6,500 with funds to come from the Environmental Services budget.

Greenview to Apply for New Program Under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program
The Government of Alberta, through Labour and Immigration, has launched two new rural streams under the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). Greenview Council directed Administration to apply for the Rural Renewal Stream designation. This program, only offered to rural communities or municipalities, has many benefits, providing an opportunity to address labour needs and skill shortages while supporting employers to attract and recruit newcomers. Council also directed Administration to provide a letter of support to show approval for the Rural Renewal Stream application process.

Potential Agreement with Grande Cache Golf & Country Club for Support to Purchase New Golf Carts
Council directed Administration to provide a report regarding the potential of entering into an agreement with the Grande Cache Golf & Country Club to support the purchase of new golf carts. Administration will provide funding agreement options as well as funding alternatives for Council to consider at the September 27, 2022 regular Council meeting.
