Thanks to everyone who exercised their democratic rights and participated in Greenview Votes 2017! The total number of votes cast in Greenview’s 2017 municipal election is over double the number of votes in the last election, with candidates running in 7 out of the 8 wards and a total of 1,332 voters. In 2013, four Councillors were acclaimed and 617 votes were cast in three wards. No candidates stepped forward for Ward 7 Crooked Creek leading to a 2013 by-election which resulted in an acclamation. Official election results will be announced on October 24, 2017 when the Councillors will be sworn in and the Reeve will be elected.

WHEN IS THE VOTE?
- Election Day is October 16, 2017. Voting Stations are open from 10:00 am – 8:00 pm
- Electors who are unable to attend their regular voting station during these hours may cast their vote at the Advance Vote, October 10, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm
WHO CAN VOTE?
You can vote if:
- You are at least 18 years of age
- You are a Canadian citizen
- You began living in Greenview on or before April 16, 2017
- You live in the Ward you are voting in
- You have not already voted in the current election
- You present acceptable ID (authorized identification)
In accordance with Section 53(1), Local Authorities Election Act (Proof of Elector Eligibility) and Section 95(1)(a)(ii), Election Act (Declaration Procedure), in order to vote, you must produce one piece of authorized identification that establishes both your name and current residential address.
Attestation Form – Residents of Cooperatives, Enterprises, or Hutterite Colonies with no formal ID can use this form as proof of identity and residence if signed by an authorized representative.
If a candidate, a candidate’s official agent or a scrutineer believes you are not eligible to vote, the objection will be noted on the Voting Register, but you will be allowed to vote.
Voting more than once is a punishable offense under the Local Authorities Election Act. Offenders face up to six months of imprisonment, a maximum fine of $10,000, or both.

What is my Elector’s Statement?
Before you vote, you must sign a statement stating you are eligible to vote.
It is an offense under Section 148(4) of the Local Authorities Election Act to make or sign a false statement, punishable by imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months, or a fine of not more than $10,000, or both a fine and imprisonment.
