FCSS Current Events

HEART- a domestic violence initiative formed in 2014.  HEART stands for Health, Education & Action in Relationships Team.  Stakeholders include RCMP, Victims Assistance for Valleyview and Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, Child and Family Services, and Green View FCSS.  The HEART Committee is planning their 3rd Domestic Violence Conference to take place on May 1st and 2nd, 2019 at the Memorial Hall in Valleyview.

May 1 to 2, 2019 join us for Northern Alberta’s biannual family violence conference hosted in Valleyview by FCSS and Victim’s Assistance. Community members, service providers and anyone interested in or impacted by family violence is welcome to attend. This year’s conference features sessions from service providers, experts and survivors. Presentation topics include addiction, pornography, stalking, animal abuse and survivors of childhood sexual abuse.

Mental Health Series: Green View FCSS is creating a series of information sessions designed around your mental health concerns.

Green View FCSS is offerring a stress and anxiety workshop due to the facebook responses to our mental health survey. Child Mind will be available through Parent Link during the time of the workshop. Participants must register to attend.








Volunteer Income Tax Program: Green View FCSS is seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with our Volunteer Income Tax Program. The volunteers would need to attend a one day training. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact FCSS. This program provides the service of free tax returns to people who qualify; including seniors, students, low-income individuals/families, Income Support and AISH recipients. Other people may be eligible.  Tax appointments will be available and can be booked by calling FCSS at 780-524-7603 or by stopping at the Green View FCSS Community Resource Center in person.  Clinics will be offered in March and April of 2019. 


Interagency: Green View FCSS hosts a monthly Interagency on the first Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at our office. The purpose of these meetings is to provide an opportunity for various community organizations and individuals to come together and share information about trends, challenges, programs and events.

Older Adult Information Day- This annual event focuses on programs and services available to the senior and older adult population.  This event occurs in Valleyview and Grovedale, Alberta.
