Volunteer Income Tax Program: Green View FCSS is seeking dedicated volunteers to assist with our Volunteer Income Tax Program. The volunteers would need to attend a one day training. Anyone interested in volunteering can contact FCSS. This program provides the service of free tax returns to people who qualify; including seniors, students, low-income individuals/families, Income Support and AISH recipients. Other people may be eligible. Tax appointments will be available and can be booked by calling FCSS at 780-524-7603 or by stopping at the Green View FCSS Community Resource Center in person. Clinics will be offered in March and April of 2018. Dates of tax clinics are now available, please call ahead to book an appointment.
HEART- a domestic violence initiative formed in 2014. HEART stands for Health, Education & Action in Relationships Team. Stakeholders include RCMP, Victims Assistance for Valleyview and Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation, Child and Family Services, and Green View FCSS. In September 2015 The HEART Team proudly brought to the community The HEART Conference, with world renowned speaker Dr. Martin Brokenleg. The Conference was a great success with over 200 people in attendance. HEART is pleased to announce that the 2nd annual HEART Conference that took place on September 13th & 14th, 2016 at Memorial Hall in Valleyview, AB was a great success. Over 125 people attended sessions with guest speakers Michael Kauffman, Lana Wells, and Cecil Sveinson.
Interagency: Green View FCSS hosts a monthly Interagency on the first Tuesday of each month at 9:30 a.m. at our office. The purpose of these meetings is to provide an opportunity for various community organizations and individuals to come together and share information about trends, challenges, programs and events.
Older Adult Information Day- This annual event focuses on programs and services available to the senior and older adult population. This event occurs in Valleyview and Grovedale, Alberta.
